There are two directions to get to the medina.
The first is from the “nouvelle ville or Hamariya”. Head towards the medina (you should see the signposts). You will cross over a big roundabout with MacDonald’s (!) on your left. Keep going and you will see the edge of the medina with the big wall. Follow the road to the right and you will be in the “Rue des Moulins” with the wall on your left.
Head down the "Rue des Moulins" (which is one-way as is “Rue Rouamzine”). The two form a one-way circuit or loop. If you keep to the right hand side of the road, you will see a car park to your right after 200m (where the "des" is on the map if this makes sense!).
If you park here and then walk down the down in the same direction you will see the riad and a sign a bit further on and above the big wall on the left hand side.
There is a small archway just after this. Go through here and then turn left and you will see the riad entrance. Everyone around here knows where the riad is or you can give us a ring and we'll come and get you at the car park no problem.
However, if you have a lot of baggage, the best thing to do is to continue on past the car park and then park on the right hand side of the road opposite the archway in the wall.
You can unload the car much more easily and then go round the one-way circuit along “Rue Rouamzine” to pick-up “Rue des Moulins” again and then the carpark.
The second way is probably if you turned off from the A2. You will drive through the outskirts of Meknès (“Quartier El Mansour”) and will arrive at the medina with the gate “Bab Mansour” on your right and the square “El Hedim” on the left.
Carry on straight ahead and you will go down a hill and arrive at the junction of “Rouamzine”. You have to follow the road to the right as it is a one-way circuit. Go down “Rue Rouamzine” and when you get to the end of it you will see the “Nouvelle Ville” in front of you and up the hill. However, take the road sharp left (Rue des Moulins) and you will be joining the traffic from the Nouvelle Ville.
